It's worth greasing them at every filter replacement and replacing them when they harden or lose flexibility. Most of the leaks I fix in homes come from an old seal, not from the filter.

Accessories and add-ons for under-sink water systems: leak detectors, pressure reducers, CO2 regulators and more. The accessories here are what separates a system that works from a system that works for years.
What each accessory does
- Leak detector — installed under the sink and alerts the moment a drop appears. The cheapest insurance against damage to the cabinet and parquet.
- Pressure reducer — needed when the building's water pressure is above 4 atmospheres. Without it the membrane and connections wear out faster.
- CO2 regulator — a mandatory part of any system that makes sparkling water. It sets both the carbonation level and the rate of gas consumption.
