FAQ — Reverse Osmosis

Answers to the most frequently asked questions in this category.

Water wasted relative to filtration, mineral removal that requires a mineralizer at the end of the process, dependence on water pressure, the ongoing cost of filters, and tank filling time. In most homes the advantage in water quality outweighs these, but it's important to go into it with your eyes open.

The membrane does also remove calcium and magnesium. The solution is a mineralizer at the end of the process that restores them and balances the taste. Don't skip it.

Every liter of filtered water also produces brine that goes to the drain. Newer-generation systems significantly improve the ratio compared to previous generations.

A typical lifespan is two to three years — but only if the filters before it are replaced on time. A membrane working behind clogged filters wears out much faster.

In areas with low pressure the system works more slowly. In such cases a booster pump is added.

Our systems clean the water completely of contaminants and limescale, and include mineralization filters that restore essential minerals such as magnesium and calcium. The result: clear water with a balanced pH and a perfect taste, in every glass.

How reverse osmosis works

  • Water is pushed through a membrane with pores of about 0.0001 micron
  • The membrane stops heavy metals, salts, nitrates, bacteria and viruses
  • What passes through is almost completely clean water — so a mineralizer is added after it to restore the minerals and the taste

Storage tank or direct flow?

  • Storage tank — accumulates purified water between uses and suits homes where water pressure is unstable
  • Direct flow — saves space under the sink and provides water with no waiting, but requires proper pressure

Maintenance

  • Pre-filtration — every 6 months
  • Membrane and mineralizer — every 12 months
  • The actual frequency depends on your home's water quality and intensity of use
