₪400. The price includes removing the existing drain trap, connecting the disposer to the drain and electricity, a leak test and a short guide on use. Drilling a hole in the countertop is free when we do it as part of the installation.
A standard installation takes about 40 minutes. What can make it longer: a double sink, no power outlet under the sink, or a countertop that needs drilling.
A power outlet under the sink or the option to run a line to it, enough room in the cabinet since the disposer takes up volume, and a drain opening of a suitable diameter. Most sinks in Israel fit, but not all.
The disposer is designed for soft food scraps: vegetables, fruit, plate leftovers and peels. What shouldn't go in: large bones, long fibers such as celery or corn husks, and liquid fat in quantity. Running cold water while grinding helps.
Yes, absolutely. In apartment buildings it's worth making sure the shared plumbing is in good condition — a disposer puts a different load on the plumbing than it's used to.
